HISTORY
The ‘Galerie du Sycomore’ opened on the rue des Beaux-Arts in Paris in 1971. Twenty-two years later, in 1993, ‘Sycomore Ancient Art’ moved to Geneva, Switzerland.
OUR PHILOSOPHY
Works of art created by the greatest artists of ancient antiquity fascinate us today as they fascinated their contemporaries. We feel the same emotional shock when stood before a sculpted face, the statue of a god or that of a simple mortal as they did thousands of years ago. The origin of all the works of art we offer has been meticulously checked and controlled by the Art Loss Register in London. To add to this, we undertake further research on the precise provenance of all the works of art in our possession.
The gallery has always strived to offer works of the highest calibre, combining historical significance with aesthetic beauty and meticulously researched provenance. Over the years, Sycomore has sold numerous important works to some of the world’s most eminent private collectors and leading American and European museums.
